A Great Name Gets Attention
A short, clear, title will help readers find your recipe, instead
of calling your recipe "Chicken and potatoes," try "Roast
Chicken Breast and Sweet Potatoes."
Clear Ingredients & Measurements
Ingredients
Give exact amounts and descriptions, Instead of "12 breasts," say "12
chicken breasts, halved,"
Spell it out measurements for the newbies (or people who may
be from other countries). Use "1 cup" instead of "1
C" and "2 tablespoons" rather than "2 tbsp."
or "one 6-ounce can of wild salmon," not "1 6-ounce
can."
Use easy measurements.
Give the amounts that are easy to find and understand. Use "2
tablespoons of cocoa powder," not "1 ounce of cocoa powder."
Use the size for packaged foods, like: "one 8-ounce can
of tomato sauce."
Preparation Instructions Tips
Give specific instructions for each step of your recipe and don't
forget the order to do things. Tell readers the order in which
to prepare the ingredients, the right setting for the food processor
or blender, just how long to cook the food, and how to tell when
food is ready. Say, "Sautee onions 5 minutes or until golden," or "Slice
potatoes ¼-inch thick," for instance. Be sure to include
other important details, like preheating the oven or refrigerating
ingredients, too.
